The Original Clannad
I've always found the beauty of Clannad to be that they had such a solid grounding in the traditional music they were immersed in when they began recording, and that they were able to take that tradition and be creative with it, to make something new and different (at the time.) As traditional Irish musicians, their playing was quite good, and Moya (Maire) has always had such a lovely voice. Their arrangements had a lovely, lyrical quality to them, and it's easy to see how they followed that into the more New Age or jazz - Celtic blend that made them so popular. This album contains some of their Clannad \"roots music\" and is, unlike the reviewer who doesn't care for this says, very much a sample of the \"real Clannad.\" Although personally, I would purchase one of their original albums rather than this one, such as Clannad 2 or Fuaim or Crann Ull. While you can probably find more purely traditional Irish music, you can't beat Clannad's particular flavor.
