pick 1 track

dramoscordova

pick 1 and you are done. this singer has such limited range that all the songs sound the same, and the arrangements are boring psuedo arena rock. much of this sounds like pat benatar on helium to me, or perhaps kate bush before she clears her throat. I am keeping track 2, your singular track yet to be named.

Young's "Strippers" is the best album I've heard since God knows when. It's a classical punk record with no gimmick and no compromise. If you want to dismiss all shouty opera-trained ladies of the piano as redundant Kate Bush offspring, that's fine. I'll be over here, listening for the fifth time to the bizarre second track, which taunts listeners with the claim that Young's "pain is more abstract ...na na... and deeper than yours," sung at something which is somehow both double-speed and half-speed, among discordant hooks. This woman has a gift of some kind. I don't know what it is, but it's rapidly becoming necessary to my life.

Under the influence

Kate Bush, Siouxsie Sioux, and Tori Amos must all have albums in Ms. Young's collection. If there were a little more variety to this album it would be more palatable. As it is, it would be a bit too much to handle in one shot. For now I will stick with the originals.
