I came across these guys a couple years ago and patiently waited for them to have more than a 7" out there. And thank goodness the wait was sooner than later. The album is hyper, playful, and filled with plenty of punk-rock passion. Not for the twee, but it's all the better for that.
This is something special. Punky, alty, controlled, out of countrol. Smart and dippy both. A rattle bag. Just what you needed.
The bombastic opening track is worth downloading the album for on its own, I can't fail to play a few air instruments every time I fire it up. For the rest of the album it's good, solid rock music. I don't always find myself listening all the way through to the end before changing but I think my average listen is getting longer so it must be growing on me.
Two drummers (well-recorded, for once) and two singers, and it's probably the best noise-guitar-rock album of 2009 to date. Think Mclusky and Part Chimp and (inevitably) Sonic Youth and Pavement. The track "Infinite Milk" probably packs the biggest punch, but the whole damn thing is hugely encouraging. Band seems to have chops, a good sense of humor, and someone who knows how to record them.
