This a very cool album. It's at once familiar-sounding and oddly comforting but also conveys a real sense of melancholy. My teenagers didn't like it when I played it to them, but I caught them singing along to July, July! the very next day. I couldn't tell you my favourite track as they all form an essential part of the story. Just download the whole album - you won't regret it. Castaways & Cutouts would also make a perfect gift on Father's Day.
Reminds me so much of Neutral Milk Hotel I had to at first wonder if this was some kind of tribute band or something. Not to say they sound bad ...in fact it's a good album. Just sounds a little too familiar.

Colin Meloy has a voice you cannot forget, and he tells stories straight from the heart. I highly recommend Decemberists and Tarkio.
I cannot adequately express how much I love this album. I don't really even plan on trying. Let's just say if you can remotely appreciate good writing, or have a soul, you should check this out.
