One of Sloan's more accessible CD's.

I guess the name of this enigmatic album is "dashes inside the brackets". Electronically speaking, this sound is akin to artists like: drifting in silence, Loscil, maps & diagrams, and near the parenthesis. Quite abstract in nature, with aimless percussive breaks on guitar-generated synths. This one requires some dedicated listening, probably better enjoyed as individual cuts on other electronic playlists. A concentrated listen is a little tedious, with most cuts sounding alike. I gave it 'four stars' due to the sameness, although not too bad.

Dark and dreamy, drift music.

Most people who listen to Jason Sloan usually pick this album as their favorite. Reminds me in some respects, of 'drifting in silence', and 'maps and diagrams'. He does traverse some strange soundscapes, much like the electronica artist 'Amongst Myselves'. It does have that Guthriesque feel to it, but I feel it is a bit more abstract, than Robin's current offerings. This album falls more on the ambient side, with limited percussive elements thrown-in. This is excellent background music for thoughtful interludes. It sounds better with each sucessive listen. I'll definitely add-it to my library.

Huge improvement

Now, don't get me wrong... I love some of his other, more difficult, albums. though they can be rather drifty and a touch staticky (is that a word?) but this has ... a bit of melody, some tribal drumming and variety. I love it. Its almost like Robin Guthries on guitar and Steve Roach on rhythms at times. Very listenable and even chilled! Def. a must have.
