Awesome!

I remember reading his book to my children so mnay times, I nearly had it all memorized, as did they. Hearing Shel Silverstein read, sing, and shout his own words is wonderful!!

This is a very funny man! If you enjoyed reading his offbeat prose, you will absolutely go into orbit when you listen to his performance. Fantastic is the only description that comes close to describing his talents.

Having read this to my kids I was predisposed to like it. Listening to Silverstein read his own work gives entirely different interpretations to some of the poems.

If the Shel Silverstein book Where the Sidewalk Ends isn’t already in every child’s hands, it should be; it’s as poignant and whimsical as the day it was written. The album version is another matter. Silverstein already had plenty of experience in the recording studio, and his musical delivery of his poems is certainly unique. He sounds a little like Emo Phillips reading verse. This album is sure to have fans who treasure it for its disquietingly offbeat delivery. – Paul Collins
