H&O make a large range of excellent music. I'm prone to enjoy ALL their work. At the end of the day it's the awesome mesh of 2 voices, complex & lovely.Best "blue-eyed soul" EVER! Daryl's voice is remarkable.I've heard 'em All.He is Xtremely UNDERRATED]! shalom

An album that sounds good...

...but lacks any of the first-rate songwriting of "Voices." The one real standout is Hall's gorgeous "August Day."

Continuing the more rock-oriented approach of Beauty on a Back Street, Along the Red Ledge is more successful than its predecessor, as the duo landed on a polished melodic pop/rock style that managed to retain their Philly soul influences without drowning their voices in distorted guitar flourishes. They would refine this sound two years later on Voices, the record that established them as pop/rock superstars. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
