For a whitest of white guys, Johnny knows how to serve up the blues. Not only can he play the guitar exquisitely, his voice is a gravelly paean to his forbears.

Johnny Winter rockin' in his prime!

HawkeyeDave

A Rick Derringer production, this is a definitive rock n roll Winter album. From start to finish it answers the question Johnny asks at the end of one of the cuts,"...does that get it or what?" Yeah, it gets it! Long live Johnny Winter.

Nice to see the expansion of the Johnny collection. There are many great albums here, but my personal favorite has got to be "Captured Live". I was at the Oakland Colesium for a Day on The Green many moons ago (yep, my head is visible on the back cover)! That version of Highway 61 is off the hook.

Still Alive and Well proved to the record-buying public that Johnny Winter was both. This is a truly enjoyable album, chock-full of great tunes played well. Johnny’s version of the Rolling Stones’ “Silver Train” revealed the potential of this song and what the Stones failed to capture. Everything here is good, so get it and dig in. – James Chrispell
