Soothes Even The Most Rabid Fan

KAggie97

In my opinion, Widespread Panic is up there with The Allman Brothers in terms of the best of the "jam band" genre. While most jam bands rely on 15 minute "noise" solos and bizarre drum breaks, WSP relies on musicianship to fill the time. None of their extended jams seem forced; rather, they seem to be a natural progression of the vibe at the time of the performance. For anyone wanting a solid WSP foundation, this is the album for you. Great from start to finish.

At Their Peak

This 2 disc set is an ultimate classic. The track selection, sequencing, and sound quality are unbelievable. I've lived with this album for years. It really catches them at their peak in the 1996-1998 era, when Houser was doing unbelievable work. A desert island pick.

arguably best live compilation to date

I highly recommend putting forth the credits for the 2 disc set in it's entirety. It would be a shame to miss out on the Diner, Barstools, Impossible & Greta.

A live double CD document of Widespread Panic’s estimable onstage powers. Picking up on longtime stage favorites and album tracks, all given the lengthy jam-infested treatment a live show affords the group, tracks like “Diner,” “Greta” “Barstools & Dreamers” and “Impossible/Jam” all clock in at over ten minutes, with six others stretching over seven minutes. Branford Marsalis makes a stellar guest turn on “Pickin’ Up the Pieces,” but the real stars here are the group itself, running a decade’s worth of material for audiences that can’t get enough of it. – Cub Koda
