Bonie Maronie may not be Larry William's version but it IS an excellent cover. It was not unusual to have several covers recorded of the original hit. That does not mean these are not original recordings. it just means these could be covers recorded around the same time. In any event, I think this is an excellent album and I think Stadler's version of Boney maronie rocks!!!
I am sure this is not the original recording of this song, Boney Marone Artist: Dave Stadler This is a Larry Williams song which he wrote and recorded "Bony Moronie" in 1957. Dave Stadler was a "rockabilly" artist with not much to his credit other than this song-brings into question some of these other 'orginals'
It's refreshing to hear the original recordings. And as far as "Lollipop" is concerned, the version with the popping sound is the cover version by The Chordettes, not he original version included here.
Just a warning. Somehow I didn't realize before downloading. What's the lollipop song without the popping sound? What a disappointment. =(
I think everyone will find something currently not in their collection to download here. Most of the pop tracks are charters. I was able to replace several scratchy 45's with nice clean copies and added many I didn't have at all. Some rockabilly and even one big band tune is included so use the 30 second preview.
