Not so shoeless Joe

skeenen

Loved Joe's music since the early days of New Wave, "Is she going out with him?", but really liked the CD "Big World" SO anything by Joe has me listening. I really like "Stranger than you".

Not As Good As The Original, But...

Night and Day II provides a sequel to the Joe Jackson's classic Night and Day album, released under Sony's Classical label. This sequel is darker and more reflective than its predessesor. Though it does not contain any obvious singles like "Steppin' Out" and "Breaking Us In Two", there are several songs of note including "Stranger Than You", "Glamour and Pain", "Happyland", and the dark, haughnting "Love Got Lost" with Marianne Faithful.

Tame Sequel

Neptuneman08

Joe the man bringing back a bit of nostalgia of the 1982 concept album masterpiece "Night and Day" with a sequel almost 20 years later. Almost nothing but traces of "Steppin' out" sequels about New York nightlife. A couple of ok songs, but mostly bland album.

The first Night and Day album by Joe Jackson is an absolute pop music masterpiece. The “sequel,” appropriately entitled Night and Day II, like the first, is an homage to New York City. The sequel musically quotes the lilting keyboard lines from Jackson’s biggest hit, “Steppin’ Out,” several times, making one long to hear the original on Night and Day. Highlights included “Glamour and Pain” and “Happyland.” Marianne Faithfull makes an interesting guest vocal appearance on “Love Got Lost.” Jackson is still angry, but he’s no longer a young man and as always his anger is tempered by a wry sense of humor. The songs on Night and Day II are not as easily accessible or memorable as the original, but this is still a great album and Joe Jackson is still the man. – Tim Griggs
