why the old days are still the best

kentstersplace

My brother had alot of great music on 8 track and vinyl that I couldnt stay out of. This record was one of them. The smoky feel and realness of this recording puts me back in my room of my parents house with the headphones on rocking out. Most of the stuff thats out there nowdays will try, but never match the level of cool that early Aerosmith gave us. Raw, pure, American rock n roll. That's why I had to buy it 33 years later.

Not like I remembered it

This was one of my favorite albums when it came out during my junior year of high school (in 8-track). It doesn't hold up quite as well after 30 years, but is still a good representation of one of the best rocking bands of the era when they were still in their heyday.

Right on the edge...

of drugs taking the band over, they are in fine form here, a bit ragged, but great jam on Mother Popcorn, and for years the only place to get Chip Away The Stone

One of my fave live albums

This is worth downloading if only for I Ain't Got You and Mother Popcorn. Seriously, Tyler doing James Brown? One of my all time favorite version of Pop Corn. Destined for the colection of every closet rock funkster or funk rockster. Overall, I give the whole album 4 stars. But those two tracks are 5's

The soundtrack of my youth...honestly!

I wore this 8-track out.....gritty blues-rock that demanded i learn how to play the guitar. Awesome album here people.

The best live Aerosmith album

EMUSIC-00E16227

Introducing yourself to 70s Aerosmtih? Then this album should be your third step (after either Greatest Hits/Gems or Toys in the Attic/Rocks). The best and most energetic Aerosmith live album, and the intimate performances of I Ain't Got You and Mother Popcorn are gems.

Disregard my earlier post

It's all here. I forgot that "Draw the Line" was a hidden track on the record, and it's hidden here too. The is a fantastic live album from the time before Aerosmith sold out.

Actually not too bad...

Back in the late 70's I used to listen to this on 8 track in my car with friends while experimenting with various pharmaceuticals. I guess it could be called one of the sound tracks of my youth. Not a bad live album, raw and to the point. And of course it has all the classics. Thumbs up!

Since Aerosmith had become one of America’s premier rock & roll concert attractions by 1978, it was only natural that an in-concert collection was issued that year, the double album, Live Bootleg. Unlike other live albums at the time, it’s obvious that not a lot of overdubbing was involved to fix up the tracks, which results in a refreshingly authentic representation of Aerosmith at the group’s most drugged-out and rocking. All of the performances were taken from Tyler and company’s 1977-1978 U.S. tour (with the exception of a couple from 1973), while the album’s packaging and title were a joke on all the poor-sounding, unauthorized live recordings that were in circulation at the time. Just about every classic is included — “Back in the Saddle,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Walk This Way,” “Come Together,” “Last Child,” “Mama Kin,” “Train Kept A’Rollin,” etc. — as well as key album tracks (“Sick as a Dog,” “S.O.S.,” etc.). But the album’s high point has to be the aforementioned pair of long-lost tracks from 1973 — loose and groovy covers of the Yardbirds’ “I Ain’t Got You” and James Brown’s “Mother Popcorn.” Although the performances may lack the fire of the shorter Classics Live II set from 1988, Live Bootleg is an excellent representation of one of rock & roll’s elite live acts. Note: to tie in with the careless bootleg theme of the album, the track “Draw the Line” is unlisted. – Greg Prato
