Huge Favorite, Classic Gem

TweezerMan

This has been one my favorite albums from the day it was released. I played in a garage band at the time and we did a lot of Spirit. In fact we can still do a kick-ass cover of Street Worm (I think). Check You Tube for "Cinnimon Haze" ... But I digress. There are so many good tracks here. New listeners, if you are rockers I suggest you start with Nothin to Hide, Mr. Skin, and Street Worm.

Should have been a classic

Well it is, but never recognized on most lists, hell, no lists. Too bad, this is so good (and check for the song Taurus on Spirit, Jimmy Page copped it for you know what)

I never understood

Why this album was so overlooked. This was my favorite album for years and I still love it. Every song is just fantastic. Wore out two LPsand turned a lot of people on to this album.

still love it

Had this in 1970 but lost it in divorce. Great album, I also lost Jay Ferguson and Randy California solo disc's. Wish I could find them. Did find Ferguson and Mark Andes's "JoJo Gunne" album here. Give it a listen.

The album that put Spirit on the map

04BS

This is truly a classic album and the one gave Spirit a place in the annals of rock history. I listen to this over and over and it still sounds as fresh as the first time I heard it on vinyl.

More great Spirit!

HSWT

Probably the last of 3 great albums put out by this short-lived band from the late 60's ( the self titled "Spirit", "The Family That Plays Together" and this one). I was a big fan of the band in the 60's and am amazed at how fresh they still sound today. That's the mark of good music I always say. Another great cover!

A cornerstone album of the PSYCH-era, Spirit soars with Sardonicus..They do it all in this one..loud,soft,clean & distorted..check out "Street Worm" for a Randy California rave-up. A definative recording!

OUTSTANDING!!!!!

I remember playing their classic song, "I got a line on you" whenever I hit a jukebox. Never paid a lot of attention over the 40 years since until I heard "Nature's Way". And then heard all the rest. Rate this as one of the top albums I have downloaded. I even went out and bought the vinyl! I am hooked!

Although Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus has the reputation of being Spirit’s most far-out album, it actually contains the most disciplined songwriting and playing of the original lineup, cutting back on some of the drifting and offering some of their more melodic tunes. The lilting “Nature’s Way” was the most endearing FM standard on the album, which also included some of Spirit’s best songs in “Animal Zoo” and “Mr. Skin.” [The 1996 CD reissue has four bonus tracks, though these are on the nonessential side: mono versions of "Animal Zoo" and "Morning Will Come," the 1970 single "Red Light Roll On," and the previously unissued "Rougher Road."] – Richie Unterberger
