Satisfies
One of the more satisfying bowie albums from the last decade. Sweet cover of the Pixies Cactus. Try 5:15 the angels have gone on for size.

Bowie as a New Yorker--you can hear it in the background on "Reality," too. Bowie as a grown-up. If you like Bowie when he's wide-awake realistic and a little sad, this is unmissable.
I really enjoyed this decade for a lot of "classic rock/pop" artists - Neil Young, John Mellencamp and a few other well-established bands have put out some superb material. This album, to me as a casual but open-minded Bowie listener, is too dull. Most of the songs lack memorable melodies, the production is sub-par at times, and he just doesn't sound very into it. Even the songs Bowie really tries one, like "Slip Away" are just painful because I have no idea who Uncle Floyd is and the line itself just sounds out of place. I will try other recent Bowie albums, but this one's more or less a bust. The worst Neil Young album has more memorable tracks than this one.
This Bowie album is a great one for driving around. It's a fun listen. His versions of Slow Burn and Cactus are great. I Took A Trip On A Gemini Spaceship is a re-recording of a Norman Carl Odam (aka The Legendary Stardust Cowboy). This is the artist who inspired the name Ziggy Stardust!
It will grow on you. Cactus is a great cut.
A good record throughout. I saw Bowie live in 2003, about a year after this was released. He was in top notch form at MSG. He was performing some of his newer songs live, and they held up well against his older classics. My faves here are the intense Slow Burn and the nostaligic Slip Away (the latter song a funny and sad tribute to the Uncle Floyd Show, the best TV show ever, who I watched daily on Channel 68 out of Newark NJ back in the day. No doubt that Bowie was watching too!).
...to have Kristeen Young on board for a fresh flavor to Bowies patented sound.
Bowie kicks it into gear on this CD. His voice is at an all time high and the choice of music and musicians are superb. Not since the "Station to Station" has he release such drama filled music. Check out "Slow Burn" it is a masterpiece in songwriting and his cover of "Cactus" is really good. His band is top notch as well. Gary Leonard and Carlos Alomar along with Sterling Campbell punch this baby along. And most exciting is Peter Townsend on "Slow Burn" is epic.
Estoy muy decepcionado de e-music. Hacen ajustes que encarecen la musica y despues llenan de excelentes productos que no se pueden descargar "en mi pais". Francamente me siento impelido a cancelar mi suscripcion despues de 7 anios.
