ted nugent - double live gonzo

sixstringguitarslinger

The best way to come to know Ted Nugent's mastery of the six string lightning rod is to hear him live. This album, better than any other, is the perfect album to come to know the motor city madman. His ability to control feedback is absolutely un-parallelled, virtually calling upon it at will, and wielding it to such a level that has never before, or since been equaled. The back and forth between Ted, and Derek St. Holmes should be more than enough to whip any lover of great guitar into a frothy frenzy. There is no doubt in my mind that this is Uncle Ted's finest hour. He is at his creative, both on the guitar and with his verbal tirades, pinnacle. This album is the closest thing that you will ever come to seeing/hearing Ted Nugent live and in concert, at his best.

The Must Own Classic!

newbomb

You don't have to like Mr. Nugent's politics but if you do not already have this absolute rocknroll classic in LP form as I do (Xmas 1979, Thanks Mom!) then get it here in digital form. IT'S AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!!!

If you're familiar with Ted only through his right-wing rants and you wonder what made him famous, check this out. At one time he spent his time playing wild guitar instead of playing at politics. Too bad he didn't stick to guitar; this is 70s hard rock at its craziest and most over the top. Terrific stuff. I had this on 8 track and wore it out.

They Say All Media Guide

As exciting as they were, Ted Nugent’s first three albums lacked the sonic punch in the gut of his outrageous live performances, something readily proved by 1978′s classic Double Live Gonzo! Both Nugent and his band are in top form, yielding a fierce performance of their numerous mid-’70s classics. Mega-hit “Cat Scratch Fever” makes an obligatory appearance, but it’s the songs from Nugent’s self-titled debut which truly stand out. “Just What the Doctor Ordered” is damn near perfect, and the band really clicks on extended jams through “Motor City Madhouse” and the fantastic “Stranglehold.” A consummate showman, Nugent also unleashes a number of hilarious, motormouth stage raps on “Baby Please Don’t Go” and “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang” before offering the definitive version of his early classic “Great White Buffalo.” In the year of the live album (1978), this one’s about as good as they come. – Eduardo Rivadavia
