Greatest Hits of the ’80s is a nice 10-track collection that covers many of Merle Haggard’s biggest hits for Epic Records, including “Chll Factor,” “Natural High,” “Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Star,” “Let’s Chase Each Other Around the Room,” and “I Had A Beautiful Time.” The rest of the songs are album tracks and concert favorites like “Yesterday’s Wine.” Though it isn’t a comprehensive retrospective of his Epic work, Greatest Hits of the ’80s remains a good overview and introduction of his latter-day career. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
