Jangly Romantic
The Mumlers' "Don't Throw Me Away" sounds old, looks young and tastes like a toasted pita full of delicious leftovers from Indian food last night in the Village. It's spicy and warm and oddly familiar. The shaky gypsy-rock of the first track, "Raise the Blinds" sounds like a coarse Jackson Browne singing with Tom Waits' favorite klezmer band. The rest of the journey takes one through romance, more rock, and finally the triple-meter soul-stirrer title track, which has become a nightly medicine for me. recommended.
