One of the great albums of the '80s
This is one of the great unsung records of the 1980s, up there with the Pontiac Brothers' "Johnson" and "Mary Jean & 9 Others" by Marshall Crenshaw. The opener was the semi-hit, and it's a great one, but the best song here -- by a nose -- is "Everywhere," a lovely ballad supposedly written the day after John Lennon was shot. Translator never made a bad record, but this is the only one (as a whole) that the band's earnestness never threatens to tip over.
