Ripe Ones

Progressive-Hobo

I just cherry pick the best of the greatest and there are some fat ripe one’s here!!! Had to pick a couple I didn’t have… The late 60’s.. 70’s and 80’s… were magical times… Bands like Pink Floyd added their own magic to the era…Wished you could have been there!!

Best live concert I have ever experienced

misstiggerjen

This was by far the best live concert I have ever experienced. I saw them at Arrow Head stadium in Kansas City, MO in 1994 and was awe struck when they did "Dark Side of the Moon" cover to cover. And it is also my fav version of "Hey You"..... Gilmour is a talent that cannot be matched....none can play like him and none can sing like him. And the effects were awesome also.

Fantastic Live Offering from PF

Folkstone57

If you are a PF fan & don't have this, just get it. If you're looking for an inroad to PF, get this. Although "Dark Side Of The Moon" is one of my favorite albums & I've performed it live in the part, this live version is so amazing. It's the best live set I've ever heard of any group I admire. I also have the DVD's & both are on my non-stop list of music to listen to, study & enjoy.

Can't get it in Scotland either

Parsfan

Like the earlier reviewer said about England the same situation seems to apply in Scotland, good albums available elsewhere but not here

Alpsman

IF IT'S ANYTHING THAT IS SLIGHTLY TOP NOTCH THEN YOU CAN'T GET IT IN ENGLAND. I WONDER WHY I BOTHER SEARCHING FOR MAINSTREAM ACTS. WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR MONEY IT CAN'T ALWAYS JUST BE LICENCE ISSUES

Not a Roger Waters Fan

jugaluck

Although the Wall was an excellent album, I really didn't like it as much as earlier Pink Floyd. I think this is when Roger Waters'started to revamp the sound of the band. Waters and Gilmore together are great, but I think that David Gilmore contributed more to the earlier albums.

Some high points, but doesn't completely work

Slar

I liked this a lot when it was released, but over time I found myself skipping more and more tracks. The main problem is that they're trying to perform DSOTM without Waters but Waters was needed to provide the punch that some of the songs needed. High Hopes improves on the original and Money and the last three tracks are top-notch. However, I don't think there is enough here to justify 24 credits to get the whole thing.

New This Week: School of Seven Bells, Trust & More

By J. Edward Keyes, Editor-in-Chief

Man. There are just so many new records today. Also, I think about halfway through this, I developed carpal tunnel syndrome. Trust, TRST: Behind the year's worst album cover is one of the year's best records. Super goth, in all the right ways. Where my Apoptygma Berzerk fans at? Home crying? Cool. See you there. This one is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Barry Walters goes: Trust is danceable even if you're not stuck in a K-hole. Its tempos vary… more »

Six Degrees of Kate Bush’s Never for Ever

By Marc Hogan, eMusic Contributor

It used to be easier to pretend that an album was its own perfectly self-contained artifact. The great records certainly feel that way. But albums are more permeable than solid, their motivations, executions and inspirations informed by, and often stolen from, their peers and forbearers. It all sounds awfully formal, but it's not. It's the very nature of music — of art, even. The Six Degrees features examine the relationships between classic records and five… more »

They Say All Music Guide

Pink Floyd claim they had no intention of recording another live album when they began the Division Bell tour, but performing The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety convinced the group to release another double-live set, called Pulse. There’s no question that the group is comprised of talented musicians, including the number of studio professionals that augmented the trio on tour. Whether they’re inspired musicians is up to debate. A large part of Pink Floyd’s live show is based on the always impressive visuals; on the Division Bell tour, they closed each show with an unprecedented laser extravaganza. In order for the visuals and the music to coincide, the group needed to play the sets as tightly as possible, with little improvisation. Consequently, an audio version of this concert, separated from the visuals, is disappointing. Pink Floyd play the greatest hits and the new songs professionally, yet the versions differ only slightly from the original recordings, making Pulse a tepid experience. [The first edition of the album featured a blinking red light -- a symbolic representation of the "pulse" -- in the spine of the disc and cassette.] – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
