Another Consistent Effort

Dudek4

Some of their best songs can be found on this album. In the past, they have produced some great tracks but they have found next to tracks that are overly slow with less interesting arrangements. Here songs such as 'Two Alone', 'The Boyfriends' and 'You Cant Move Back Here' are lyrically interesting (as always) while having some sublime tunes and choruses. Often this has been lacking. One of their best.

A bit disappointed...

There was something about Thirteen Cities, something otherworldly, maybe the brass, maybe the slow deathmarch pace, but it just isn't here. Maybe it needs a few more listens, but I'd still recommend their last and Winnemucca over this.

This band get better and better

tomfoster999

Ten albums, or so, in and Richmond Fontaine get better and better. This is a really great record, and as the guy says below it's well paced and feels like a proper album, rather than a collection of songs thrown together. If you like Americana get this album and then get the rest. Heart breaking stories of America's no-hopers and losers, set to understated but beautiful tunes.

i had never heard of this band until a friend recommended them, and I'm glad he did. This is a great album - intelligent, well-paced and full of decent songs. I've listened to it several times, and it gets better every listen.
