Lusine, A Certain Distance
2009 | Label: Ghostly International / IODA

Lusine is the recording name for Jeff McIlwain, ambient techno producer extraordinaire. While his tracks have always had poppy, accessible elements beneath their cool electronic exteriors, his latest album, A Certain Distance, is his most welcoming yet. The lead single, "Two Dots," is almost warm, with seductive vocals by Vilja Larjosto, adding a touch of disjointed humanity to the mix.

Gravity near perfect...

fulofunk

I DL'd this almost a year ago before giving it a real listen. Now Gravity gets at least a threepeat play and is as near a perfect ambient song that I've heard in a long time. Can't explain it other than the underlying chord changes just move me. This song and Cirrus dominate my weekend listening.....especially after a few whiskies waiting for the bbq to be ready...i'm just sayin' :-p

His best work yet

dj_riviera

Outshines his other works by megawatts. Repeatedly listenable.

Great download

djdanparker

This album is a great listen all the way through. Some beatless/ambient tracks, some with great breaks and basslines, and a few tracks with pleasant vocals... Has a bit of everything, and definitely worth downloading. For those interested, my favorite Lusine album is 'Language Barrier' (under Lusine ICL - same guy). Even more downtempo and ambient, but AMAZING...

"Seattle Ambiance"

DJBuglip

This entire album has a placid, dreamlike rhythm which carries along throughout like an undercurrent. Although occasionally punctuated by a moment of slightly more radio - oriented tracks like the aforementioned Two Dots, or Twilight (which also features the vocals of Vilja Larjosto), the entire work is quite ambient in nature overall, and infused with many other elements and some wonderfully jazzy overtones as well. I'm playing the magnetic encoding off my copy.

if you want a great song then check it out. I'm been listening to it on repeat for days now. Some other strong songs but Two Dots is awesome. I love her voice!
