Beutiful Details
This chanteuse from Berlin, produces intricately crafted electronica with her panoply of treated loops, field recordings; intricate arrangements, beautiful voice and quirky lyrics, all crafted her living room/studio. If you are into artists like Imogen Heap, or Bjork you will like Madeleine Bloom's "Minutia". The album is cool to listen to, headphones are recommended. It is aptly named, as it is all about the details as she reminds us that life is made up of minutia, which beauty is in the details (as well as the devil). Ms. Bloom commands her sonic space with grace and skill. The opening tracks Webs and Euphoria draw you in with clockwork grace. Of special note is the jazzy “Chaos and Order”. Her percussive use of cue balls in the Break creates a tempo shift that changes the whole nature of the song and gives it a real snap and immediacy she knows how to hook a groove. All the songs are crafted like that though, with her use of found sounds reinforcing or echoing the song themes.
