Offer off

theportablemr

The free download offer ended at the end of 2009. I bought this after being recommended it at a local record shop. I liked, but didn't have the cash for the vinyl, and mp3s are a second, even third best. It's already a favourite, and recalls Jay Dilla, but without the vocal focus. He works with the BBC archives apparently, hence the range of samples. New radiophonic?

The best aquacrunk

The rise of the music you're not allowed to call wonky has seen a few names mentioned repeatedly - Hudson Mowhake, Flying Lotus, Zomby, Rustie and so on, but imo Paul White beats them all, easy. So why isn't his profile higher? Possibly it's because he commits the cardinal sin of being accessible... or maybe he just isn't that interested in self-promotion. Either way this is stratospheric - don't let the short track lengths put you off, this is meant to be enjoyed as journey... and what a journey it is. If you want a tryout I'd recommend 'Get 'Em Up,' but really the whole thing should be on your to-download list. THE WHOLE THING.
