Body Discovery

On their debut, Body Discovery, UK upstarts Callel showcase their emotive brand of indie pop. The band employs lush male/female harmonies over a clean and often acoustic approach. They take a detour, however, on the danceable synth-driven "Best Foot on the Ground", which moves towards electro-pop before breaking out into a full-on 80s power-ballad style guitar solo. It's an upbeat number that comes as somewhat of an anomaly amongst such an otherwise brooding, almost emo-leaning album. Listeners looking for well-crafted melancholic, co-ed pop should certainly take note of Callel's debut.
