Macca's On Form, But Emusic Rips You Off!

Scdips

A really good album, capturing the atmosphere of Macca's excellent performance at Citi Field. What a shame that Emusic want to rip you off to the tune of £13.86, when you can buy it on Amazon at £4.55 and include a DVD with that, yep that's £4.55!! What's the story Emusic?

I trundled down memory lane with this one. Great atmosphere and I thought the performance was terrific

Macca without the whimsy

plundo

I find Paul Mac hard to take when he's too cosy or middle of the road , but this set is a great mix of wings and beatles, all delivered with energy and good ol rock and roll feel plus some good guitar work. Try 'the end' or 'ive got a feeling' or the new 'highway'. Best live outing so far. 'Great little band' as he says himself of the beatles at their best.

Good stuff

stephenhowarth999

Having been a lifelong fan of the Beatles, this live version of some of their classic songs is a joy.I guess there has been a period when people sided with their favourite Beatle - and this collection is a good example why that is a pointless exercise. They each contributed in different ways and made the sum greater than the individual parts. Paul's fronting of this particular compilation together with his own stuff from Wings gave me the feeling that they are still all with us.

New This Week: Sharon Van Etten, Twilight Sad & More

By J. Edward Keyes, Editor-in-Chief

OK! Are you guys ready to get bummed out? Because it's the week before Valentine's Day and, man, do we have some sad records for you. I mean, sad even for indie rock, which has sad basically branded into its DNA. So if you're ready to be heartbroken, let's get going. Sharon Van Etten, Tramp: Basically, the only record you need today. A great leap forward from her previous, folky outings, Tramp finds Van Etten falling… more »

The Fireman:Sir Paul Speaks

By Mat Snow, eMusic Contributor

Electric Arguments is no ordinary Paul McCartney album. For a start, it's by the Fireman, his occasional musical partnership with Youth, former Killing Joke bassist turned award-winning producer. Secondly, it's received more critical acclaim than any Macca release since Band on the Run a trifling 35 years ago. Oh, and it released on an indie record label founded by anarchist punks, One Little Indian, whose most high-profile artist up until now has been Björk. Fitting, then,… more »

They Say All Music Guide

Unlike its 2002 predecessor Back in the U.S., Good Evening New York City doesnÂ’t cherrypick highlights from a tour, it commemorates a specific event: the inauguration of Citi Field — the replacement for the now-defunct Shea Stadium, where the Beatles played a legendary show in 1965 — in the summer of 2009. The circumstances may be different — different enough to lead to a Billy Joel cameo on “I Saw Her Standing There,” the piano man returning a favor from Paul, who played at BillyÂ’s Shea-closing shows in 2008 — and McCartney might have two strong albums of new material to draw upon, but as an album, Good Evening New York City plays a lot like Back in the U.S. with a whopping 17 of its 35 tracks shared between the two titles. More importantly, the vibe is the same, with Macca delivering an expertly balanced and sequenced set with all the skill of the old pro that he is. Apart from the inclusion of “Mrs. Vanderbilt” and “IÂ’m Down,” there are no surprises, either in song selection or performance, but no surprises doesnÂ’t mean no satisfaction, and this is plenty entertaining, Rovi – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
