hooray
I picked 'Colors' out of the SXSW 2011 Sampler and loved it. Finally got around to downloading the whole album in emusic now and love it. She has a wonderful voice and I can't wait to hear more.

...for me. Wanted to like it - good voice, and "Movie Loves A Screen" is a terrific little pop single, but nothing else on the album ever takes off. Still interested to see what she does next though, hope the writing develops to match the voice.
The songs are well enough written, and well enough performed, but too bouncy by half. For me it was a steady stream of 3-star songs, any of which would have benefitted from a bit more depth. The one or two songs where everything clicks, though, make it a worthwhile listen. Take a listen to "Colors" and you'll see what I mean about that.
Toe-tapping, peppy and really good. I love when an artist can make a sad song peppy. April Smith has a great voice and great energy that bring this album to life.
I heard her on the All Songs Considered Newport Folk fest pod cast and loved her energy. Pleased to find her on emusic. What a voice, and what fun!
Saw April Smith last month and I've become a huge fan. The music is quirky and fun!
I wish she hadn't redone the vocals for Colors. The EP version melts my heart but this version sort of falls short... that aside, a wonderful album and well worth the wait.
Masterful songwriting with an incredible and unique voice to top it off. This record shows April at the top of her game.
Her voice is absolutely wonderful. The phrasing and pacing are top notch. There are some pretty witty lyrics here, wrapped up in some very interesting arrangements. Kind of a retro-pop/cabaret thing. If you are looking for something different but accessible, by all means download this.
A fantastic voice (part Sia, part Jolie Holland, part Gwen Stefani). Band is great too. Sort of cabaret-ish, but doesn't feel dated. It's all very good, but start with "Colors" for a test drive. If you aren't tapping your feet after the first verse, you may be legally dead.
