Transformational

Terceiro

This is a longish performance of Mahler's second, and, frankly, there are a couple of spots where the musicians are noticeably imperfect. Rather than diminish the effect, however, I think increase it: this is a very, very emotional recording. It is astounding, actually. When I first listened to it, I couldn't help turning the volume up so high it spilled out of my headphones and made my wife shake her head at me and leave the room. But the finale is so powerful that I honestly wanted to stand up and cheer along with the audience. I wanted it loud so I could block out everything but the music--and the recording is so pure I could well imagine it. It is a steal at $12, because for that price it might transform you whole life. It really is that good.

Fantastic !

Lhamo

An extraordinary, passionate, very moving, enrapturing performance and a masterpiece of engineering. The sound quality is fantastic, highs and lows are equally crisp and crystal clear in a way even many studio recordings fail to achieve. This is a 'must have'!

Extraordinary in every way

This is a once-in-a-lifetime live performance that, fortunately for us,was recorded. Full of enormous intensity and rare insight, it glows from beginning to end. This definitely transcends Tennstedt's studio recording of the same work. If you love Mahler, don't be without this performance.

MAHLERISKING

I can only concur with the previous reviewer. This is a superb recording of a fine performance. All the majesty and drama of Mahler's score superby captured live.

Magnificent beyond words

Mashu30

This is an astounding performance of Mahler's Resurrection Symphony. Tennstedt paces this great work superbly, and orchestra, soloists and choir respond with enormous intensity of emotion. In no other recording do the final pages resound with such a vivid sense of hard won victory and exultation. The sound is excellent too, with powerful organ presence at the close. This is truly a performance to live with and cherish.
