eMusic Review
Chamber ensemble Clogs offer up this gorgeous EP as a precursor to their upcoming full length, The Creatures In The Garden Of Lady Walton, due in March. Clogs, who formed at Yale in the late-90s and feature The National's Bryce Dessner, have been quietly releasing somber, post-rock informed chamber pieces since 2001. The Veil Waltz EP finds the group pairing clean, subdued guitar picking with elegant bassoon arrangements to great effect, resulting in a collection that is both sophisticated and sweetly ethereal. If the EP is any indication of the strength of the forthcoming full length (which is slated to feature appearances from Sufjan Stevens and My Brightest Diamond's Shara Worde) – it will surely be an album to watch for.
