Beautiful
I once bought a bunch of LPs(long playing records)of most of Reger's output for Solo strings, listening to them I got the impression that Reger's compositions are just a lesser parody of Bach... But I have since learned that the problem lies with the interpreter. For the Violin Sonatas listen to Ulrike Anima-Mate, for the Viola Solos Tabea Zimmerman and for the Cello Solos Pieter Wispelwey and suddenly you will respect Max Reger completely and become aware of his incredible genius.. The Sound of the Viola on this recording is Sturningly life-like.. Very beautiful indeed. 5 stars.
