Brooding and rich
I agree with other reviewers that the best version of Mahler 2 on emusic is the live LPO recording with Tennstedt which is beautiful, uplifting and rapturous., But this version with the Bamberger & Nott is a great contrast, being far darker and bleak at times, and moving a long way from the fairy tale sweetness that Mahler interpretations can be saddled with. Rich and complex, it has repaid a lot of listeninig to.
