Back To Mono (1958-1969)

alfa10

Probably because of licensing rights we can't have the original box set. So no Ike & Tina Turner, The Righteous Brothers, Gene Pitney, The Teddy Bears, The Checkmates or Ray Peterson. For the rest everything is glorious except to hear Phil Spector try to sing Spanish Harlem is a bit out of place. All the other tracks belong in the Rock 'n' Hall of Fame.

Original mixes?

It's hard to find Spector classics in Mono. I wonder if these are original mixes or adjusted for the 21st century? Still enjoyable.

Not the great Back To Mono set, but still some of the greatest songs in R&R History. The real deal here no redo's

Anagrams

By Maris Kreizman, Audiobooks Editor

"Anagrams" is the name of one of my favorite books - it's clever and heart-wrenching at the same time.I like sad songs you can dance to, and I like sad songs you can cry to. I like girl groups and electro-pop and Brit pop and twangy torch songs. I'm still haunted by some of the songs that I was obsessed with when I was a kid. I think "twee" and "deep" are not mutually exclusive. more »
