The first DC album left me cold in the main, but this is the sound of a band finding their sound, and what a sound. Lead track 'In the Dark' is huge sounding psych-rock with MBV guitars, 'Father Figure' sounds like a bleaker version of Mew's grungey pop - a comparison that carries through via a scorching J Mascic solo on 'Giving It All Away' (he also guested on Mew's 2005 album). If like me you grew up in the halcyon days of shoegaze and grunge you will love this.
