It's all been done before.
Power chords? Helmet made it intricate with Hamilton's study of jazz as well as System of a down, to some degree. Rhythm? Deftones' drummer is even better at rhythm than these guys. Candiria just makes it groudbreaking. Rap metal? Rage Against the Machines at least soloed and the vocalist came from a punk background, giving their music some meaning. Angst? Godflesh put noise and feedback to back up their lyrics resulting in a disturbing, hellish effect in a powerful way. Genre changes? Pink Floyd also went through changes and have become noteworthy as a result. And let's not forget Thrice either. Importantly, they both had musical knowledge to where they could write whatever they went into and came out fresh and inspirational. Linkin Park overall? Nothing new folks, except for a few electronic noteworthy segments. That is all.
