Tough, skillful and from the heart

gtra1n

Excellent rhythm and blues with a generous helping of rock and jazz. Bergson has his band deeply rooted in the Mississippi Delta via Chicago sound of classic American R&B. Everything is tasty, balancing the clichés we want with the personal expression we hope for. Top notch band as well, with excellent playing from the rhythm section. Solid and completely enjoyable.

Soulful blues from The Big Apple!

Jeroen_Bluesma

Me and my wife walked into BB King's in New York City a couple of months ago. Much to my surprise The Chris Bergson Band was playing there that night! Of course I knew them already from their album Fall Changes available right here on Emusic. What a great night it turned out to be! The intimate setting of the club and the great music made it a night to remember. Now here's their new album and it has it all! What gets you right away are the warm and soulful vocals. Then there's all the different kinds of blues these guys can do. There's a song right out of the delta, a slow rag, lots of funky stuff, sixties soul, a brillant cover of Dust My Broom and two beautiful ballads. Furthermore: brilliant hammond and piano playing, and some mean horns. Like I said: This album really has it all. It's a great soundtrack for a relaxed evening but also for a party. Do yourself two favors: Get this album and attend a gig. Make your New York experience complete!
