A major step back
After such a long period of musical inactivity, at least any that reached my ears, I figured Mr. Jenssen had turned his back on music in favor of mountain climbing. 'N-Plants' kind of continues where 'Auto de la Lune' and 'Dropsunde' left off. 'N-Plants' is not a bad record but, for me I prefer his more subtle records like 'Substrata' and his masterpiece 'Shenzhou'. The sounds on those records were full of mystery and beauty. 'N-Plants' just doesn't have that. I listen to a lot of electronic music and the use of beats just doesn't do it for me anymore and I sense many electronic musicians feel the same way. The muscial trajectory of many artists I listen to is to boil the music down to its essence. With each succesive record the beats start to go away, leaving pure sound. Please Mr. Jenssen, give me another 'Shenzhou', 'Substrata' or 'Nordheim Transformed'.
