  • They Say...

Including the majority of the contents from four singles Dave Angel recorded for R&S Records (and subsidiaries) during 1992-93, Classics distills the early career of one of the best straightahead British techno producers. Never as consciously "intelligent" as Warp acts like the Black Dog and B12, Angel navigated the divide between techno for head and heart with apparent ease, balancing his hard-hitting percussion attack with moody effects and a sense of atmosphere. Many of his best productions are on this collection, including "Bounce Back," "Jungle Love," "Free Flow" and "Brother from Jazz." In total, the individual moments on Classics rival Angel's later album productions.
