As part of Stax's Very Best series, soul singer Johnnie Taylor is spotlighted on 23 tracks recorded for the Memphis based label between 1966 and 1975. With the exception of "Disco Lady," which was recorded for Columbia in 1975, these are the original versions of Taylor's R&B chart-toppers and include the number one hits "Who's Making Love," "Jody's Got Your Girl and Gone," "I Believe in You (You Believe in Me)" and "Cheaper to Keep Her." This is a decent sampler for the novice at a mid-line price.
