  • They Say...

Pianist Monty Alexander had a reunion tour with his former sidemen, bassist John Clayton and drummer Jeff Hamilton, in 1983. The resulting CD was recorded live in a West German club. Alexander is the main soloist (as expected) but Clayton has several memorable spots where he utilizes his bow, particularly on Charlie Chaplin's "Smile." Other highlights of this excellent straight-ahead release include "Two Bass Hit," Clayton's '"Blues for Stephanie," and "Love You Madly." Recommended.
