  • They Say...

This sampler CD has 11 performances drawn from Fantasy's vast catalog that put the focus on 13 guitarists: Barney Kessel, Eddie Duran, Kenny Burrell with Jimmy Raney, Tiny Grimes, Wes Montgomery, Billy Bean, Pat Martino, Billy Butler, Tal Farlow, Jim Hall and a duo of Herb Ellis and Joe Pass. Most of the music is very much in the bop tradition and the numbers from Bean and Butler are the least known. A good all-round survey of the pre-fusion guitar of the 1950s and '60s.
