They Say...
Acumen plays progressive rock. Those who, upon hearing that statement, hear sounds like '70s groups Yes and Genesis only have part of the picture, though. Acumen takes that sort of a sound and blends it with '60s political rock stylings similar to Jefferson Airplane and their ilk. The result is a sound that is true to both of those foundations, but still creates its own textures in a very modern motif. The dual vocalist approach (one male, one female) certainly adds to the group's unique sound. All in all, fans of progressive rock, or melodic rock in general, will probably find this CD to be an intriguing change of pace.
