America brought their laid-back harmonies and easy-coasting songs to fruition in the early '70s, when they sounded suspiciously like the mellow end of Neil Young — "A Horse with No Name" still confuses the uninitiated. The deceptive ease of Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley’s harmonies and the hypnotic hooks of "Sister Goldenhair," "Ventura Highway" and "Sandman" should not be easily discounted. Recorded live in a spirited, flawless acoustic concert on an island paradise in 2002, both performers and songs are in strong form 30 years after.
