An album that proves power-pop is not necessarily a derivative music form.

  • We Say...

Copperpot's self-titled album proves power-pop is not necessarily a derivative music form. While many power-pop bands seem bent on perfecting the replication of Rubber Soul-era Beatles or Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys, Copperpot take the three-minute pop song to an entirely different place, a completely modern rock place. Copperpot definitely emphasize the "power" aspect of the genre, but without losing any of the hooks or melodies. "Go Girls" may very well be a perfect power-pop song with its great harmonies. Lead singer Jarrett Randazzo's voice is soulful throughout the album, particularly in the lower register of "Dying Without a Sound." If this album is any indication, there will be more great things to come from Copperpot.
