We Say...
Though it was recorded on a paltry budget in his parents' Allentown basement, Adam Richman's Patience & Science has all the high-gloss heartache of MTV staples New Found Glory and A Simple Plan. The similarities don't stop there — like those dew-eyed dears, Richman is fond of funneling his fountains of blame through silvery riffs and big, yearning, multi-tracked choruses. The biggest difference is velocity: Richman's songs take their time unpacking their baggage, delivering all the grief at half the speed. "Broken Glass" (the title being a reference to Richman's emotional frailty) progresses casually from soulful strum to pleading chorus while "Lost on Timing" maintains a steady, somber shuffle. While Richman may yet be a relative unknown, Patience makes it clear that his "All Downhill from Here" could be just one breakup away.
