They Say...
Concerning Telomere's work, the most important distinction to make, especially for electronic music aficionados, is that all of the artist's work is done on the Serge modular synthesizer. Telomere is the project of ambient space architect Christopher John Macdonald, and his gifts shine through on his 1998 debut recording, Astral Currents. The music here almost has a bit of a Tangerine Dream feel in places, but then traces of 1970s Pink Floyd and Steve Roach happen to come out of this recordings as well. Astral Currents is a very warm recording, and one that is a truly a cult-classic among ambient music fans. It is comprised of seven masterfully crafted tracks that drift in and out of the listeners consciousness with both a classic electronic music feel and a profoundly organic blending of sonorous electronic timbres. This recording is definitely a pick, as is Telomere's 2001 release Zoetosis, which sounds like an expertly produced sequel to this wonderful work, thus making the two recordings a must for any fan of the contemplative sonic journey.
