Arabesque is the second CD from Mário Aphonso III (aka MA3) recorded on the Azul Music record label. Showing themes with Arab rhythms specifically arranged for belly-dancing, this work is full of electronic loopings and the acoustic sonority of Arabian percussion (Derbak, Bendir, Daff, and Snujs), creating riches and mysterious rhythm nuances. This CD has also has the special participation of great Brazilian-Arabian musicians, like conductor George Aidamos, George Mouzayek, and Marco Santuris, among others. Always connected with theatrer, dance, and music, Santuris is also strongly connected to world and classical music. On this CD, his improvisation skills are exhibited with vivacity on saxophones and woodwinds (flutes, piccolo, etc.). MA3 did his best in arrangements, compositions, and performing, recovering ancient themes (some of then are more than 400 years old) from Arabic music, besides creating contagious melodies, showing an incredible versatility not only as a musician, but also as composer and producer.
