  • They Say...

New York radio personality Mister Cee quite possibly sets some kind of record in his intro to Heather Hunter's debut album, managing to use some variation of the word most commonly abbreviated "MF" an average of every 5.8 seconds. And that's just the appetizer. Heather Hunter's Double H: The Unexpected is the Andrea True Connection's "More More More" updated for the gangsta age. An experienced hardcore porn actress, Hunter hooked up with several name-brand producers (Scott Storch and DJ Premier are the best-known), who provided good-but-not-great beats to go under Hunter's good-but-not-great rapping. While Hunter is definitely more talented than True all the way around, she's no Missy Elliot, who manages to be sexier through cunning, clever wordplay than through Hunter's blunter and less-imaginative approach. But anyone looking for a hip-hop equivalent of an old Millie Jackson record will be entertained.
