  • They Say...

Godzuki's debut introduces their noisy, catchy brand of "science rock" -- a mix of Erika Hoffman's sweet, whispery vocals, fuzzy guitars and whooshing synths. A pleasant blend of '80s new wave and '90s noise-pop, at its best Trail of the Lonesome Pine strikes a unique balance between pop accessibility and noisy experimentalism. Songs like "Pollen U.S.A.," "Auto-Haze" and "Pointsettia" showcase the band's sunny, pop side, while "Do the Sputnic" and "Canary" feature noisy effects and hint at a darker side to Godzuki's sound. All in all, Trail of the Lonesome Pine is a promising debut with some original moments.
