  • They Say...

Less than a year after the outstanding Rockstopper, Knifehandchop took a left-hand turn and released this 11-song laptop-laden exercise of an LP. Most of the ground covered here is what you'd expect from Tigerbeat6: furious tempos and heavy glitches centered in the IDM world with allusions to breakcore, video game music, hip-hop, ragga, jungle, and happy hardcore. The songs center around the themes of isolation, breakup, and loss, but that's only evident if you're paying close attention to the lyrics and not being too preoccupied with head nodding or interpretive dancing. It doesn't win any points for originality, but it nicely complements the goings-on of label head Kid606 in his quest to find the killer sounds.
