  • They Say...

Okay, this is just kind of creepy. It's one thing to be heavily indebted to your musical heroes. Heck, entire subgenres of music are dedicated to sounding as much as possible like the Beatles, the Ramones or Led Zeppelin. But remember that creepy Bridget Fonda movie Single White Female, the one where the girl's new roommate basically mutates into her doppelgänger? For Bridget Fonda, read AC/DC and you'll have some idea of what's going on with Adrenaline Factor's debut album. This band could not be more committed to sounding like Bon Scott-era AC/DC if the guitarist broke into Angus Young's house and stole his schoolboy uniform. Singer Lee Scott (!!!) has studied long and hard at the temple of Bon, and every song on here reveals how dedicated he is to perfecting his note-perfect impersonation of Bon Scott's long thought inimitable style. Similarly, the band is committed to perfecting that loose, rangy, but hard-hitting rock & roll strut that is AC/DC's sonic trademark. Even the lyrics and song titles ("Boozin' Susan," "Seven Beer Bitch") are so dead-on that the listener eventually has to wonder if this isn't some kind of deadpan joke. So, props for committing so thoroughly to the concept, but after that, what's the point?
