A true techno-classical hybrid.

  • We Say...

Unlike some attempts at marketing-driven classical crossover, Alarm Will Sound, a young, 22-member chamber orchestra, offers up a true techno-classical hybrid in transcribing 13 tracks by Aphex Twin (aka Richard D. James), a star of the British techno scene. This is electronica at its most dizzyingly complex, and here the songs emerge as miniature tone poems: a robust percussion sounds replace Aphex's finely detailed electronic beats, the warm glow of strings, woodwinds and brass takes over for the sleek synthesizer melodies.
